About Maria Art:
Something I always wanted as part of my life, HAS become a passion that fills my soul, and leaves me full of joy, one brushstroke at a time.'
Maria Hunt
After 30 years as a successful business woman, Maria Hunt, finding the nest empty, and having fulfilled her role as financial contributor, retired to the Palm Springs area, pursuing her childhood dream of studying and creating art. She started in 2000 with art classes at College of the Desert. She refined her skills in plein air painting by attending workshops across the U.S. The years left, to get 'really good' at art, are less and less, and her focus is laser sharp. She spends one week a month teaching art to Children and older versions of children She teaches 'Art Camp for Kids at the Palm Springs Art Museum every Summer.
When not teaching you can find her under a wide-brimmed hat, taking in the beauty, while trying to capture it on canvas or paper. During the cooler months of winter, she packs up her easel and paints, heading for favorite painting spots; For oil painting, she uses a more impressionistic style. In the summer, she avoids the 110 + temperature, painting indoors, using her favorite medium (Watercolor) for still life paintings, and anything colorful she can pick in the garden or pull from the refrigerator to paint. Her passion for life and nature is evident in her art.
